White Lotus by johnnyjinx White Lotus by johnnyjinx
I love it, abso-lutely loved it when the customer requested I tattoo a white lotus. Its a color riddle that forces you to look at the color of shadows while not compromising the white nature of the object. Took about two hours. Probably felt longer for the sitter though. The foot is no joke.

I just wish people asked me to do work like this more often.

Looks great! super nice tones in there!! My one critique is not at all for aesthetic value, but for longevity I would probably have lined out each petal with a dark gray wash to keep the separation between the petals in the long run without compromising the softness too much. Came out really nice though.. just kind of like to see how all this color realism with no hard lines holds up over 5-10 year you know. I've seen really old traditional pieces that were done with hard lines and solid black hold up really well for a super long time, but usually the straight color work tends too muck up in the long run
What do you think?

cool. only thing i would've done differently was perhaps a little more contrast under the center of the bud- lil darker/foresty green or bold orange would really push the lighter tones and hold up better on a foot as everyone's so far away from it at a glance and it gets direct sun; but nicely done!

Ooooo this is wonderful! I always get so stumped when someone asks for something white. Pale blues, pinks, lavender and greys definitely work best, and I've at least done a few convincing white pearls that way. :D
