It was the kind of dive bar you'd expect to find a bum like me. Rotten shoes with rotten feet inside and rotten luck all over. On a Friday night when all the good bars are filled with good clean people, this dive was the only bar in town that would serve me. It didn't matter how bad you smelled, or how many coins it took you to pay for a drink, so long as there's enough left over to tip with, you can take your drink to the dark corner of the room and drink in peace.

I am a pyro. An apprentice following the Path of Fire, my mentor's name is Bik and he speaks to me through my lighter.
I first met Bik in the burnt ruins of a Water Temple. I don't remember what brought me or how I got there, but I do remember seeing Him. In the charred hand amidst the many dead, His yellow plastic body was like a beacon against the black and grey ash. I had to touch it. The moment my finger felt His warm shiny body I could hear His voice speak to me. Not in words, but in thoughts - and his message was that of purity which rang in my ears like a crystal bell in Heaven: "FIRE PURIFIES".

The other apprentice was disciplined in the arts of the Black Blood, one of the opposing schools from my own Path of Fire. My powers began to fail me when I conjured and dispatched a magma ball towards him. The globular mass floated slowly towards him as he laughed at my attempt. He dodged with ease and lunged at me with a veiny aura of black purple. This could only mean he was ready to feed. He ran to get his aura close to me.
